Migrating to Australia in 1954, Arthur Batsanis situated himself in Johnston Street Collingwood. Arthur acquired high level skills to manufacture and repair shoes in the Greek Army. Forced to make a living for himself, Arthur used his knowledge and began working as a shoe repairer. After receiving an overwhelming amount of positive feedback of his repairing skills. Arthur set to work and produced children’s high quality shoes. Arthur’s production attracted a lot of support and appreciation which encouraged him to recognise the niche producing well handcrafted quality shoes for men.
Arthur’s eldest son Jim Batsanis shared the same passion as his father. In 1980 Jim officially joined Arthur’s business. Orders became abundant and production was officially moved to a newly built factory in Thomastown in 1989. The factory was manufacturing and branding shoes for large department stores throughout Australia.
In 1984, Jim’s wife, Olga Batsanis joined Batsanis as a lead footwear designer. Her unique and fashion forward designs appealed to many and increased orders.
2016 brings Batsanis into their 60th trading year as a third generation family business. Batsanis has managed to sustain its business for 6 decades by following and adapting to global and economic trends. Online trading is the way of the future. Due to the ever changing nature of fashion footwear, there can be some inconsistencies in shoe fitting. When selecting your size, we recommend referring to the size of a previous Batsanis shoe that is similar in styling.
Alternatively, please refer to the sizing chart below to convert the length of your foot to the appropriate size.
|UK Size||US Size||Europe Size||Foot Length (cm)|
HOW TO MEASURE
To measure your feet stand on a level floor with the back of your heels against a straight edge or wall.
Measure your foot length by placing a ruler flat on the floor straight alongside the inside of your foot from your heel to your toes. Place an object with a flat edge straight across your toes with the edge touching the tip of your longest toe. Take the measurement (in centimeters) from the ruler where the flat edge crosses. This is your foot length measurement.
SELECTING A SHOE SIZE
If your foot measurement is halfway between sizes, select the larger size. You may find one foot is longer than the other, this is quite normal, please use the larger size when making your shoe size selection.
